Averitt recognized by Chevron for service and performance

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (April 22, 2013) – For the second straight year, Averitt Express has been honored by Chevron Lubricants with a Carrier Recognition Award. Chevron recognized Averitt for the full-service transportation provider’s dedication to customer service.

“The Carrier Recognition Awards are issued to our carrier partners that help elevate the perception of Chevron and our lubricant brands through a combination of safety, service and performance,” said Barbara Burger, vice president of supply chain and base oil with Chevron Lubricants, in a statement. “Although our award criteria is difficult to achieve, we are very proud that so many of our carriers have met or exceeded the service levels needed to qualify. We want to congratulate all our carrier partners for the fine work they do, but in particular, our Carrier Recognition Award winners, for their exceptional performance in 2012.”

The customer service award is given to carriers that achieve “on-time” ratings of 90% or better for pickup and delivery of goods, with strong survey results from the locations they served.

“Our team puts heavy emphasis on service and exceeding our customers’ expectations,” said Phil Pierce, Averitt’s executive vice president of sales. “We’re proud of our relationship with customers like Chevron Lubricants and honored to receive this award from them.”

The Chevron Lubricants 2012 Carrier Recognition Award is one of several honors Averitt has received from customers in the past few months. Earlier this year, Averitt was named Walmart’s 2012 Regional LTL Carrier of the Year, while automotive parts maker Dorman Products presented Averitt with its 2012 Carrier of the Year award.

Aramex announces distribution of 10% cash dividends for 2012

Dubai, UAE; April 17, 2013: Aramex (DFM: ARMX), the global logistics and transportation solutions provider, announced today that its annual general assembly has approved the Board of Directors’ proposal for the distribution of 10 per cent of paid-up capital as cash dividends for the year ended December 31, 2012.

Aramex announced its financial results for the 12-month period ending December 31, 2012, with full-year net profits of AED 244.1 million, an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2011, and revenues of AED 3,105 million, up 21% compared to AED 2,571 million in the previous year.

“2012 was a very good year for Aramex, and we clearly exceeded the ambitious goals we set forth. We will be distributing 60 % of our net profits for 2012, which reflects the company’s solid financial position and cash flow”, said Hussein Hachem, Aramex’s Chief Executive Officer. “2013 promises to be an even more exciting year as we sustain our growth and continue our plans for expansion in key growth markets in Africa, Central Asia, and South East Asia.

Oman Air Receives Unique Award at Travelplus Airline Amenity Bag Awards 2012 in Hamburg

Oman Air has received a unique award in recognition of the outstanding quality of its First Class and Business Class amenity kits.

At last night’s TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards, the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, was presented with the TravelPlus Readers Award for the Most Enduring Amenity Bags by the leading online magazine’s editor, Simon Ward.

The commendation comes in the wake of Oman Air’s success in the TravelPlus awards over the last two years. In January 2012, it won both the Best First Class Female Amenity Bag and the Best Business Class Unisex Amenity Bag categories, and also received a Highly Commended in the Best First Class Male Amenity Bag category. In 2011, the airline received the Best First Class Female Amenity Bag award and came second in the Best First Class male Amenity Bag category. In the same year, Oman Air also won the Best Onboard Amenity category in recognition of its pioneering introduction of both mobile phone and wi-fi connectivity on its Airbus A330 fleet.

This year’s awards were held at a special Gala ceremony at the Radisson Blue Hotel, Hamburg, to coincide with the ‘World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo’ (9-11 April). The awards, which are designed to recognize those airlines that go the extra mile for their customers, attracted a large number of entries from airlines and suppliers, and competition was fierce.

NAC Ships 50K Lbs. for ALPAR in 2012

Northern Air Cargo announced today that as a result of its 2012 sponsorship of the Alaskans for Litter Prevention and Recycling (ALPAR) Flying Cans & Bottles program, the company shipped a combined total of 50,000 pounds of aluminum cans and #1 PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles collected in rural communities throughout Alaska bound for RockTenn Recycling in Anchorage.

“We are very grateful to Northern Air Cargo who donates the backhaul for this material. They, along with other participating air carriers and businesses in Alaska who support ALPAR programs, are key to making this program feasible and sustainable,” says Mary Fisher, ALPAR executive director.

Over the past five years, the Flying Cans & Bottles program has received a steady increase in volume of these recyclable materials, from over 26,000 lbs. in 2008 to over 50,000 in 2012. The recycled materials will save landfill space, decrease litter and pollution and provide feedstock for manufacturing products such as fleece clothing, fiberfill, and new plastic bottles and aluminum cans.

Oman Air Announces Major Growth in Onboard Connectivity Take-up

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has announced major growth in uptake by passengers of its inflight mobile phone and wi-fi connectivity.

Between January 2012 and January 2013, the airline experienced a 130 per cent increase in internet package sales and a 180 percent increase in connectivity revenues. Mobile phone connectivity is charged at roaming rates by individual service providers.

Oman Air’s Muscat to London Heathrow service saw the greatest use of inflight connectivity and the most popular method of accessing the internet was via smart phones, indicating that most users relied on the connectivity service for leisure, rather than work, purposes.

Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Pearce welcomed the figures, saying: “Oman Air was the first airline in the world to offer both mobile phone and wi-fi connectivity inflight and I am delighted that our customers value this service so much. The increase in passengers’ use of the service in 2012 underlines their growing expectation that similar levels of connectivity should be available in the air as they are on the ground. I am pleased that the continued increase in uptake since we introduced the service in 2010 shows that Oman Air still leads the field in this area.”

Oman Air’s inflight wi-fi connectivity is available in a range of packages, designed to suit customers’ differing requirements. Vouchers can be purchased for use with smart phones and tablets (excluding iPads) aboard the airline’s Airbus A330 long haul fleet at the rate of US$5 for up to 3MB of data or US$15 for up to 10MB of data. Vouchers for iPad and laptop connectivity can be purchased for US$15 for up to 10MB of data and US$30 for up to 25MB. Usage beyond these data allowances is charged per MB.

Coverage is available throughout Oman Air’s range of long haul services, except when flying over countries such as India, which prohibit onboard mobile phone and wi-fi communications. However, the airline’s Muscat to Bangkok services, which overfly India, report the second highest rate of uptake, after Muscat to London.

Statement: Aramex strongly refutes allegations of involvement in shipment of tear gas canisters to Egypt

Dubai, UAE; April 10th, 2013: Aramex, the global logistics and transportation solutions provider, today released an official statement saying it was not involved in the transportation or delivery of the shipment of teargas canisters from the United States of America to the Ministry of Interior in the Republic of Egypt, strongly refuting accusations published in the Egyptian media.
Aramex stated that the shipper in the United States arranged for the delivery of the prepaid shipment of five containers directly with US – based AIT Worldwide Logistics, one of the many agents Aramex works with in the US.  Aramex’s involvement in Egypt was limited to the delivery of shipment documents only from the shipping company to the Ministry of Interior. Senior management in Aramex Egypt was not aware of the contents of the shipment at any time.
Aramex Chief Executive Officer for Africa, Mr. Samer Gharaibeh, stated: “The recent media reports of our involvement in the shipment of tear gas canisters from the US to Egypt are inaccurate and we strongly refute these allegations. This news has considerably distressed many Egyptians and we want to assure them that we were not responsible for delivering this shipment, as this does not fit in with the Aramex culture or its values.”

Averitt expands paperless invoicing options for customers

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (March 19, 2013) – To help its customers improve cash flow and tighten efficiencies, Averitt Express has rolled out expanded electronic billing options. Now Averitt’s customers can receive invoices via email directly to their inbox.

Averitt’s “Paperless Invoicing” tools save its shippers time and money. By receiving electronic invoices by email and viewing open invoices online, shippers can bill their customers more quickly, as well as have total control over managing all of their invoices online.

Blue Dart & DHL lead the Corporate Responsibility thrust in India
