Customers Choose Averitt As Top Carrier In National Customer Satisfaction Poll

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Averitt Express has been recognized by the readers of Logistics Management magazine as a top transportation provider in the publication’s Quest for Quality Awards.

In a poll of close to 5,500 shippers, Averitt was honored in two categories – South/South Central Regional LTL and Truckload Dry Freight. This marks the 19th consecutive year that Averitt has been recognized with at least one Quest for Quality Award. Since the program began in 1984, no other carrier in the South has earned more Quest for Quality awards than Averitt.

Averitt Express Certified As On-The-Job Training Employer For Military Veterans

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Last year, Averitt Express committed to hiring 1,200 military veterans by 2020. To assist in that effort, Averitt is now offering an On-The-Job Training (OJT) program that is approved for veterans benefits.

Veterans who qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill and are hired by Averitt receive several benefits through the On-The-Job Training program. In addition to an Averitt paycheck and $5,000 tuition/transition assistance bonus, veterans can earn as much as $1,140 per month tax-free for up to 12 months using available GI Bill funds.

Averitt Introduces Full LTL Coverage In Illinois And Expands Service In Wisconsin

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Averitt Express has expanded its direct less-than-truckload network to provide full state coverage of Illinois and additional points in Wisconsin.

The expansion was made possible by opening of the company’s new distribution center in Peoria, Ill., which is located adjacent to the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport. The facility, which features eight dock doors, a maintenance shop and nearly 14,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, serves as a distribution hub for Averitt’s less-than-truckload and truckload network that includes more than 100 locations around the country.

Averitt Associates Contribute $100,000 to American Red Cross Flood Relief Efforts

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — In the wake of the damage created by Hurricane Harvey in Houston and other areas, the associates of Averitt Express recently made a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund.

The Red Cross is currently using the funds to provide food and shelter to thousands who have been affected by the floods, many of whom have lost their homes and possessions.

According to Averitt officials, the donation was made from funds collected through the company’s associate-giving organization, known as Averitt Cares for Kids.  Averitt Cares for Kids is funded 100% by voluntary contributions from the company’s associates.

Hurricane Harvey’s impact in the Southeast Texas area has been severe. As residents and businesses work to minimize the impact of flooding and repair damages, Averitt is doing all we can to support recovery.

As a result of the impact of Harvey, Averitt will not be conducting standard pickup and delivery service in the Houston area for several days. 

Shipments destined to the Houston area will still be picked up throughout the Averitt LTL network, but will not move to destination until the Houston area is ready to receive the shipments and is able to complete delivery. Shipments destined for Houston will not be subject to LTL service standards during this time.

Update on Atlanta-Area road Closures

March 31, 2017 – Atlanta-area road closures due to a collapse of parts of I-85 on March 30 are requiring a re-thinking of delivery schedules in and around the Atlanta area.

A significant fire under the I-85 overpass collapsed a large portion of the interstate and has also severely damaged the road in both directions, requiring the DOT to close the interstate indefinitely.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported. Additionally, the affected area is was inside the I-285 Atlanta Bypass, which is required for commercial truck traffic. Unfortunately, the re-direction of traffic has impacted the already high volume of traffic the bypass already experiences.
