COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Walmart has named Averitt Express as its 2016 LTL Regional Carrier of the Year. This marks the fifth time in six years that Averitt has earned the retailer’s service award.

According to Walmart, Averitt has “demonstrated a dedication to customer service and a commitment to creating innovative solutions in an evolving, yet extremely important, business.”

Countless retail suppliers across the country rely on transportation and logistics providers such as Averitt to transport products to Walmart’s distribution facilities.

President Signs Continuation of National Emergency Against Syria, Yemen, & Central African Republic

On May 9, 2017, the White House issued three notices stating that President Trump declared a Continuation of the National Emergency with Respect to Yemen, Syria, and the Central African Republic, effectively extending the sanctions currently in force for one year beyond the previous automatic termination dates.

The National Emergencies Act provides for the automatic termination of a national emergency unless extended within 90 days prior to the anniversary date of its declaration.

CITA Adds Certain Fabric to CAFTA-DR Availability List

In a Federal Register notice to be published on May 10, 2017, the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) posted their determination that certain twill weave fabric is not available in commercial quantities in countries participating under the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR). CITA is adding this product to the list in Annex 3.25 of the CAFTA-DR agreement in unrestricted quantities.

The specifications listed on the notice is for two-way stretch polyester/rayon/spandex twill weave fabric consisting of a plied polyester/ray staple with spandex filament, which is classified under Harmonized Schedule Tariff 5515.11.
