Daylight Transport will be offering 2-day service from points in Texas to the states of IL, WI and MN on April 10th, 2017.  The expansion is the logical next step in  Texas expansion and is made at the request of Daylight Transport customers.

Daylight Transport is known for world-class speed, reliability and customer service.  Adding more 2-day lanes to our network will provide the marketplace an avenue to utilize Daylight Transport for more of their valued shipments.

Hermes inspires innovators of tomorrow at first Hackathon

The UK’s next generation of innovators have gone head-to-head to create a range of exciting solutions that could enrich the home delivery industry at a Hackathon organised by Hermes, the consumer delivery specialist. A multi-platform live chat application and an enhanced GPS tracking solution designed to drive down fuel consumption were among ideas concocted by students from Leeds Beckett University and judged by a panel of experts including a member of Google’s technical team.

Hermes, who delivers parcels on behalf of 80% of the UK’s leading retailers and etailers, including John Lewis, Next and Arcadia Group, staged the event alongside the University in order to encourage the innovators of tomorrow to bring pioneering ideas to life. To facilitate this, Hermes granted the students special access to its sophisticated development portal and the company’s APIs (Application Program Interfaces).

Update on Atlanta-Area road Closures

March 31, 2017 – Atlanta-area road closures due to a collapse of parts of I-85 on March 30 are requiring a re-thinking of delivery schedules in and around the Atlanta area.

A significant fire under the I-85 overpass collapsed a large portion of the interstate and has also severely damaged the road in both directions, requiring the DOT to close the interstate indefinitely.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported. Additionally, the affected area is was inside the I-285 Atlanta Bypass, which is required for commercial truck traffic. Unfortunately, the re-direction of traffic has impacted the already high volume of traffic the bypass already experiences.

Making a Grandmother’s Day

[03.29.17] From Reddaway Today: The play structure was installed and ready to use in Sabrina’s Templeton, CA backyard. To avoid any bumps and bruises on her grandkids, she ordered four tons of crumb rubber to scatter under the structure.

However, when the Reddaway truck pulled up in front of her house, and Sabrina was faced with the reality of carrying 160 bags of crumb rubber (50 pounds each) from the driveway to her back yard, she briefly wondered whether that play structure was really such a good idea.

“The driver just smiled and told me not to worry because he could get the truck pretty close to the play structure,” Sabrina says.

03/24/2017 – Gatwick Airport and DHL Supply Chain today formally open a new waste management plant, becoming the first airport in the world to turn airport waste, such as food and packaging, into energy onsite.

DHL’s new £3.8million waste plant not only disposes of Category 1 waste safely onsite, but converts it and other organic waste into energy to heat Gatwick’s waste management site and power the site’s water recovery system. The plant is set to save £1,000 in energy and waste management costs for every day it operates.
