KWE History

May 1948 The Operation Bureau of Kintetsu Corporation begins handling international freight and travel service.

Nov 1948 Becomes an approved IATA (International Air Transport Association) agency.

Oct 1954 The International Transportation Dept. of Kintetsu Corporation is transferred to Kinki Nippon Travels, Co., Ltd. and changes the trade name to Kinki Nippon Air Travel Co., Ltd.

Sep 1955 Trade name changes to Kinki Nippon Tourist Co., Ltd.

Apr 1969 Kintesu World Express (H.K.) Ltd. is established in Hong Kong.

May 1969 Kintetsu World Express (U.S.A.) Inc. is established in U.S.A..

Jan 1970 The Airfreight Operation Dept. separates from Kinki Nippon Tourist Co., Ltd. to become independent as Kintetsu World Express, Inc. specializing in airfreights. Licensed for Utilized Airfreight Operation (forwarding service) the same month, the Company begins its original domestic forwarding service.

Dec 1985 KWEHKG establishes the representative office in Beijing.

Jan 1989 KWEHKG establishes the representative office in Shanghai.

Jul 1994 The Company obtains the first ISO9002 certification (international standard for quality assurance) in Japan’s airfreight industry. (Second certification for the KWE Group after the June 1994 certification of KWE-Kintetsu World Express (S) PTE, Ltd. in Singapore.) Jan 1995 Kintetsu Logistics (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. is established in Shenzhen.

May 1996 KWEHKG obtains ISO9002(now ISO9001) certification (international standard for quality assurance). Nov 1996 Beijing Kintetsu World Express Co., Ltd. is established in Beijing.

Jul 1997 Kintetsu World Express (India) Pvt. Ltd. is established in India.

Sep 2000 Listed on Nasdaq Japan Market, a section of Osaka Securities Exchange. May 2002 Listed on the Second Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Oct 2002 World Headquarters (WHQ) is formed at KWE Head Office in Tokyo. Nov 2002 “The KWE Grand Design for the 21st Century” is formulated.

Sep 2003 Stock listing upgraded to the First Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Jun 2006 “ASIA & OCEANIA Region” was divided in “EAST ASIA & OCEANIA Region” and “SOUTH EAST & MIDDLE EAST Region” and made it the Five Regional Group Management System.

Jul 2007 KWE (Shanghai) Commences Operations of a Large-scale Warehouse Facility (46,000m2) in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Oct 2008 Kintetsu World Express (Czech) s.r.o. is established in Czech, which is the first subsidiary incorporated in Central and Eastern Europe.

Apr 2010 KWE established Bangladesh Delegate Office.

May 2010 KWE established the Medium Term Management Plan “Ready for the Next!”.
