On JUL 8, 2013, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published a document announcing that as part of their Trusted Trader program, they are planning on joining the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and Importer Self Assessment (ISA) processes.
These documents were published in advance of the Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of Customs and Border Protection (COAC) meeting to be held on May 22, 2013, and it covers the agenda for Trusted Trader Subcommittee, among others. In regards to joining C-TPAT and ISA, CBP explains that “this approach will enable CBP to provide additional incentives to participating low-risk partners, while benefiting from the added efficiencies of managing supply chain and trade compliance within one partnership program.”
CBP also noted that as part of the work of the Trusted Trader Subcommittee, they are evaluating the possibility of including Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) in a new Trusted Trader Partnership process.
According to CBP, the implementation of the first phase of the Trusted Trader program is scheduled to being by the end of Fiscal Year 2013. The COAC meeting on May 22 will be held in Washington D.C.
