A brand new build-to-suit facility in Singapore demonstrates Panalpina’s continued commitment to a strong and successful logistics platform in Asia-Pacific. “As we celebrate 40 years of doing business in Singapore, this is Panalpina’s largest ever warehousing investment outside Europe in the company’s history,” says Matthew Gallagher, country head of sales, Singapore. The building features a unique yard and container storage on the rooftop, state-of-the-art automation and air conditioning on all floors.

The investment will help Panalpina to expand its Logistics business in Asia-Pacific by offering customers an ultra-efficient and tailored solution for their specific logistics needs. Construction is currently under way, and the facility will be ready for customers in early 2018. The new 30,000 m2 facility is being built at Pioneer View, next to Jurong Bird Park in West Singapore, where the city-state is developing a new deep-water port to keep up with ocean freight growth.

On May 16, 2017 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000278 responding to the questions asked during the weekly ACE Trade FAQs from the week of April 27, 2017.

CBP responded to two questions, the first which deals with blanket declarations in the ACE Portal and the second with the current status of the 11 Partner Government Agencies participating in the Automated Export System (AES).

First Meeting of Committee on Trade Facilitation Agreement Meets

On May 16, 2017 members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) met for the inaugural meeting of the Committee on Trade Facilitation. This committee will manage the implementation of the WTO’s recently passed Trade Facilitation Agreement (FTA).

The TFA entered into force on February 22, 2017 after meeting the two-thirds WTO member ratification requirement. The committee will meet to discuss matters related to TFA procedures and the progress of its objectives. They will also develop a standard for distributing pertinent information and best practices among the committee.
