DACHSER Launches Air Freight Gateway at Expanded Facility

DACHSER streamlined air freight processes in the North China region after making their new air freight gateway operational. The Shanghai Pudong Airport Bonded Zone branch expanded from 32,300 to 64,600 sq. feet.

“The North China gateway demonstrates DACHSER’s high quality process management across continents,” explains Yves Larquemin, Managing Director Air & Sea Logistics North China.

DHL Parcel is expanding its customer service to include a new voice-activated information service. Effective immediately, DHL customers can query Amazon’s digital smart speaker “Alexa” for information on their parcel’s current whereabouts.

By activating Alexa’s DHL Parcel “skill” via the Alexa app, users can ask their Amazon Echo or Echo Dot smart speaker to provide information on their shipment status, for example: “Alexa, ask DHL where my parcel is”. The voice-controlled interaction with Alexa is part of DHL Parcel’s service strategy to continually improve the customer experience. The goal here is to make it quick and easy for every customer to receive an answer to his or her question at any time.

05/08/2017 – DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has opened a central China Rail Competence Center in Stuttgart, Germany to ensure the more efficient and customer-friendly coordination of ever-growing freight volumes transported between Germany and Asia by the rail freight service.

“Rail freight volumes between Germany and Asia have increased 10-fold in just one year. In order to meet ever-increasing demand, the onus is on us to grow, optimize processes and create synergies. It is for this very reason that we decided to establish a central China Rail Competence Center,” states Volker Oesau, CEO DHL Global Forwarding Germany and Central Europe, explaining the strategic rationale behind the decision.

FedEx Trade Index: 8 in 10 Small Businesses Say Trade Will Improve the U.S. Economy

WASHINGTON, May 8, 2017 — An increasing majority of U.S. small business leaders overwhelmingly view global trade as beneficial to Americans. FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) has released results of the second FedEx Trade Index(1), a national survey of over 1,000 small business leaders which tracks the impact of international trade among the small business segment of the U.S. economy.

The results of the second survey*, commissioned by FedEx and conducted by Morning Consult, finds a significant majority (84%) of small business leaders say expanding trade between the U.S. and other countries is a good thing, up from 77% last year. Similarly, 8 in 10 small business leaders (80%) say increasing global trade will improve the U.S. economy overall, up from 71% in the 2016 Index. Three out of four small business leaders (76%) also agree increasing global trade will create opportunities and U.S. jobs, compared to 69% in September 2016.
