Argentina and Brazil Agree on Digital Certificate of Origin Use

On April 21, 2017 the Customs Broker Center of the Republic of Argentina published an informative note regarding the 4th Meeting of the Bilateral Trade and Production Commission, which discussed the status of the online Certificate of Digital Origin (COD).

Argentina and Brazil both agreed to end the Pilot Plan for the COD and move into the implementation phase. This was determined after more than 95% of pilot cases were successful. This specifies that operators importing goods between Brazil and Argentina in the framework of ACE 18 (MERCOSUR) and ACE 14 (Argentinean-Brazilian Automotive Agreement) may opt to use the Certificate of Origin in paper or online in the COD. The COD option will be exercised at the time of import registration and will be valid for each operation.
