Old Dominion Awarded Logistics Management’s “2012 Quest for Quality Award”

THOMASVILLE, North Carolina (August 23, 2012) –Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. earned Logistics Management magazine’s “2012 Quest for Quality Award” in the Multiregional LTL Carriers category.

This year marks the eighth time Old Dominion has won the award. The 29th Annual Quest for Quality Awards will be featured in the magazine’s August issue.

Logistics Management readers evaluate carriers by examining numerous criteria, including on-time performance, company value, customer service, equipment and operations, and information technology. Readers then vote on the winners.

“Old Dominion is committed to providing the highest level of old dominion tracking service, and winning this award shows our dedication to keeping our customers’ promises,” said David Congdon, Old Dominion’s president and CEO. “While we pause to celebrate this award, we remain committed to finding even better ways to deliver for our customers.”

Old Dominion has achieved an on-time delivery rate and a claims ratio that are among the best in the industry in large part through its use of technology and the dedication and professionalism of its people.

The company’s technology includes the use of PeopleNet’s FleetNet vehicle management technology for the company’s fleet of nearly 6,000 tractors, ESRI mapping solutions and Old Dominion’s legacy systems for tracking freight allowing individuals to view, on a map, the activity of all shipments and pickups. The system provides up-to-date information allowing employees to make more intelligent decisions by visually showing drivers, routes, freight and customers.

The honor is the latest prominent award given to Old Dominion in 2012. In March, the company was named one of America’s 100 Most Trustworthy Companies by Forbes magazine. The annual recognition is awarded to publicly traded corporations that have consistently demonstrated transparent, conservative accounting practices and solid corporate governance and management.

In June, CIO magazine named Old Dominion a recipient of the 2012 CIO 100 Award. It marked the fourth consecutive year the company has been honored with the award. Also in March, Old Dominion was honored by Mastio & Company as the No. 1 National LTL carrier in the company’s 2011 Value and Loyalty Benchmarking Study.
