City Link raises over £3,000 to help children’s wishes come true

City Link, the UK’s premium express delivery company, has helped a charity which fulfils the wishes of many of the UK’s bravest children.

The company has handed £3,257 to Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, which every year arranges to fulfil the wishes of hundreds of children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.

The money was raised through City Link’s internal employee survey – Your Voice Counts.

The survey – designed to allow employees to suggest positive changes within City Link to help improve life within the company and improve communication – was circulated to every employee.

The money was raised when the company donated £1 for every completed survey returned.

Dave Smith, Managing Director of City Link, presented a cheque to charity volunteer Jodie Sabin.

The money will be put towards granting the wishes of some 1,400 children this year, at an anticipated cost of £6.8 million.

‘We have been delighted with the support of our friends at City Link over the past three years.  This internal staff survey is a great innovative example of how a charity partnership can work in harmony with the business.  The additional money raised will help us to grant a magical wish for a child or children facing some of the most difficult circumstances of their young lives.’ Jonathan Sandall, Head of Corporate and Trust Fundraising

Dave Smith said: “We are delighted once again to be able to support Make-A-Wish, which has been City Link’s chosen charity since 2009.

“We believe every child deserves a certain quality of life but it is a sad fact of life that this is not always the case. The courage and bravery of the children City Link has come into contact with through Make-A-Wish has touched the hearts of staff at all our depots and as a company we are delighted to be able to help make some of these dreams come true.”
